Counting on Tue of 176 panchayats, at 13 locations having 21 tables each

Goans voted for 186 panchayats on Sunday. But the counting would be held only for 176 panchayats on Tuesday.



Rest of the 10 panchayats would be counted on 2nd July after the second phase polling is held on 1st of July.

The State Election Commission is trying to finish the counting as fast as possible by adopting a sequence system.

The counting of total 1507 wards would be held at in 12 taluka centres on Tuesday.

There would be total 21 halls at 13 locations – two in Tiswadi. The second phase of elections of 15 reserved wards of 10 pancayats would be held on 1st of July.

Besides this, the SEC will also hold two bye-elections later, one in Morlem where there was no candidate and one in Chandor where election was postponed as one candidate died.

State Election Commissioner R K Srivastava said that returning officers had arranged 13 to 14 tables in each counting hall.

They would follow sequencing system to speed up the counting.
