Cong to decide names in Delhi on Tue, 6 MLAs, 7 more finalised

The crucial meeting of the screening committee of the Congress to prepare the final list of the candidates would be held on Wednesday in New Delhi



The Congress however has cleared almost 13 names including all the six sitting MLAs. The committee is also expected to give its opinion on the proposed alliance with the other like-minded parties.

The Congress drama, as usual, will be shifted to the national capital to shortlist the candidates by the screening committee and then sending it to the Central Election Committee headed by Sonia Gandhi.

The Screening Committee is headed by MP K C Venugopal with BhaktaCharan Das and Dipak Babaria as it members.

BesidesGPCC chief Luizinho Faleiro, opposition leader Pratapsing Rane and Dr Chellakumar, the other three members are AICC secretary Girish Chodankar and two former chief ministers – Digambar Kamat and Ravi Naik.

Sources in the Congress House told Goa 365 that the state level committee has cleared 13 candidates, with no other contender.

These include 6 MLAs – Pratapsing Rane, Vishwajeet Rane, Jennifer Monseratte, Digambar Kamat, Alex Reginald Lourenco and Babu Kavalekar

According to information gathered by Goa 365, the screening committee would also make suggestions to the CEC regarding the proposals of alliance with the other like-minded parties like the Nationalist Congress Party, Goa Forward and Untied Goans of Babush Monseratte.
