No new schemes or new projects in the villages and not even new recruitment at state level for one month.

The Code of Conduct for Panchayat elections has brought all such things to standstill for one month now.

The State Election Commission has even appointed 12 observers to monitor. Meanwhile, the first day witnessed only 54 nominations on Thursday.

State Election Commissioner R K Srivastava said the code of conduct was applicable only to 186 Panchayats and not the municipalities, Panaji city and five Panchayats, where there are no elections.

The State Election Commission has also appointed one observer for each taluka to monitor the election process and also violation of code of conduct.

8th May was the first day of nominations. It will go on till 25th May. Only 31 nominations were filed in North Goa and 23 in the South.
