The church organ targeted by the Bharatiya Janata Party for trying to polarize the polity denied charges saying that the fact finding report on religious desecrations was a well researched and analysed one.

The Council for Social Justice and Peace said that all the points in the report had to be rebutted and mere allegations did not hold water.

The report prepared by the Centre for Study of Society and Secularism and the Council for Social Justice and Peace had questioned the hurry in blaming all the desecrations on one person and wanted a detailed inquiry into the incidents.

CSJP President and Caritas director Fr Maverick Fernandes on Thursday said that mere allegations did not prove anything and the report was based on investigations and research into ground realities as well as interviews with people on the ground.

The BJP on Wednesday had attacked the recent report for questioning the police investigation into the desecrations.
