Former Union Minister Eduardo Faleiro has demanded to know from Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar the basis on which they have said special status for Goa is not possible.

He also wants to know what efforts they have taken to pursue the issue at the centre.

Congress leader Eduardo Faleiro said that Special Status for Goa was sought on two grounds - protection of land as well as to control large scale of migration in the state. According to him, issue of land is a state subject as per the state list in the Constitution of India.

Eduardo also feels the need to control the issue of in-migration with proper legilsation since it could upset the demographic composition that would create socio-economic problems.
