Amit Shah airport meet was spontaneous, not pre-planned: BJP

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has come out with a justification that it had not organised any function of party president Amit Shah at the Dabolim airport, but it was a spontaneous function.

The leaders have even said that the stage and sound system was arranged last minute. In fact they have dared Congress to file FIR in this case at the police station.

Congress leader Girish Chodankar had raised this issue, calling it blatant illegality of organizing a political meeting in the airport complex. At that time, some Vasco-based BJP leaders had said that they sought permission to organise this meeting.

But now local party president Vinay Tendulkar and general secretary Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Monday said that there was no question of seeking permission because it was not an organised function.

It seems the party activists came to the airport on their own and also organised the function last minute by erecting the stage and organing sound system. And this is the way journalists grilled them on the issue.

Dabolim MLA and panchayat minister Mauvin Godinho was quoted by some newspapers that he had sought permission from the Airprot Authority of India. But since the airport authority denied it,

when Goa365 contacted Mauvin, he said this was looked after by Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida. And he refused to come on the camera. When our reporter contacted Carlos, he also refused to speak and directed us to the party leaders.
