Alliance will get us the leaders, but we’ll lose the people: Congress

Congress says their first priority is to win over the people of Goa

Winning the election is secondary. And if they go for alliance, they feel they may lose people’s sympathy. NCP leader Churchill Alemao however has warned that NCP will contest 30 seats if there is no alliance.

The Congress is still undecided over the proposal of having alliance with three parties - the Nationalist Congress Party, Goa Forward and United Goans of Babush Monseratte. All the six Congress MLAs had recently rushed to the high command with a demand to have an alliance to defeat the BJP. But the party organisation leaders from  Goa were adamant. In this background, AICC secretary Girish Chodankar told the media what is their fear if they for alliance.

Nationalist Congress Party leader Churchill Alemao however is still pressing for the alliance. And he is also threatening the Congress to field 30 candidates if they  don’t agree for alliance. Obviously, to damage the Congress.

Churchill was denied entry back into the Congress because he was chargesheeted in the Louis Berger bribery case. He now asks what is the rationale in giving Congress ticket to his co-accused in the same scam – former CM DigambarKamat.
