All parties except BJP demand scrapping of postal ballots, hold EVM voting

All the political parties except the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party have urged the Election Commission to scrap the postal ballot of service voters and hold a repoll on one day with Electronic Voting Machines



The Goa Suraj Part has also approached the high court to hold repoll on two booths of Navelim.

The all party meeting held on Thursday was attended by Congress, , the Nationalist Congress Party, Goa Forward, Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, Goa Suraj Party andthe Goa Vikas Party.  


Not present but supporting were the Goa Suraksha Manch and the Shiv Sena. 

The service voters issue has also reached the court.

The Goa Suraj Party on Thursday said that it had filed a writ in the High Court asking for a repoll in part 18 and 19 of Navelim constituency before counting on 11th of February. It also wanted the electoral roll to be redone.
