AAP, Villagers march against mining pollution, force GSPCB to act

Aam Aadmi Party members and residents of Quepem and Sattari talukas on Tuesday took out a Morcha to the Goa State Pollution Control Board, demanding a halt to iron ore transportation through villages.



The officials of the Board have assured them to issue a show-cause notice to the mining companies.

The morcha included residents of Caurem, Rivona, Sulcorna in Quepem taluka as well asSonshi in Sattari.

They also warned the pollution control board authorities of approaching the court of law if the transport through the villages was not stopped.

AAPleadersValmiki Naik and Elvis Gomes alleged that the Board was not using its authority to stop the pollution, including appointing an independent authority.
