Goa Govt plans to impose heavy fines on littered plastic

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is planning to go tough on usage of plastic in public.



A fine ranging between 5000 to 10 thousand rupees on littering plastic bottles or bags in public.And also banning plastic bags upto 100 microns. But this would be gradual and in next one year.


CM Parrikar was speaking to media at the closing function of the Carpet of Joy installation. A special programme “sound of joy” was organized on this occasion by Museum of Goa along with Saligao Panchayat at Saligao ground on Friday.


Carpet of Joy installation was put up byeminent Artist Dr. Subodh Kerkar with a massage “make Goa litter free”.


This installation was made up using one lakh Fifty Thousand plastic bottles and waserected in the field of Saligao. Subodh Kerkargave more details.
