Vasco NGO, Goa against Coal has said that they would not allow dredging of the Zuari river at any cost.

The NGO told reporters at a press conference at Vasco on Saturday that the Mormugao Port Trust was only interested in dredging to facilitate coal transportation.

They also criticized the chief minister Manohar Parrikar statement that there was no coal pollution in Vasco.

Dredging of the port and the river leading to and from the port have been sticky topics for the people of Vasco.

The dredging issue has come up and when the port trust tried to start dredging work it was challenged in the NGT.

Members of Goa against Coal criticized the chief minister Manohar Parrikar for his statement that there was no coal pollution in Vasco.

They wanted to know if he was aware that a public hearing about coal pollution had taken place in the port town.
