Fierce opposition from the truck owners finally compelled the government to have one more final negotiation on the transportation rate of iron ore. Vedanta has been instructed not to transport ore till Sunday.

Tension mounted at Vedanta’s Codli mine since Tuesday morning with one truck getting stoned. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is now meeting the stakeholders once again on Thursday.

Heavy police force was deployed at the Codli mine since Tuesday morning as over 800 truckers had gathered outside the gate to stop any truck coming with ore from the mine.

On the other hand, workers working inside the mine have now come forward to support the company. They have appealed the truck owners not to stop the trucks and halt the mining business.

By Tuesday evening, CM Parrikar sent instructions not to transport ore till Sunday and withdraw the police security.

MGP MLA Dipak Pavaskar’s brother and Sanvordem Sarpanch Sandeep Pavaskar said CM will meet the concerned MLAs as well as the truck owners on Thursday morning to renegotiate the transportation rates.
