Vijai gives go-ahead for road at Chapora fort with modifications

Archaeology Minister Vijai Sardesai wants to conserve the Chapora fort and set up sound and light show for the tourists. Vijai, however, is not in favor of bringing a ropeway at the fort.



Rather Vijai He says acess to the fort is a necessity and so is the conservation of heritage. Hence an exposed lateritic stone will be used for paving the road up to the gate of the fort.

Archaeology Minister Vijai Sardessai along with Water Resources Minister and Vinod Palyekar and Director of Archives and Archaeology inspected the Chapora fort on Friday.

Vijai directed the PWD to complete the road as soon as possible after listening to the grievances of the locals.

 Vijai said his department will make arrangements for sound and light show at the fort so as to provide the history of the fort to the tourists
