Vanarmare to get more compensation, toilets for men and women

The Goa Human Rights Commission has told Goa government to provide adequate compensation and proper toilet facilities to the Vanarmare tribe at Nirankal in Ponda.

After some villagers demolished the huts of Vanarmare families, the South Goa Collector had paid a meagre compensation of 1500 rupees per family, that too after Goa Human Rights Commission had taken cognisance of the inhuman act.

Now, the Commission has ordered to hike the compensation and expedite the police investigation.

Adv Satish Sonak argued before the Commission on behalf of the petitioner Rajiv Naik.
