Vanarmare still living with hopes, demands not yet met

The Wanarmare tribals in the Ponda area are still living out in the open without proper toilet or housing.

However, the government has provided them electricity, temporary shelter, Aadhar and ration cards.

Dwellings of these Vaanarmare tribals were demolished last year, after which many social activists and NGOs had raised voice for right of these tribals.

Government authorities had also promised them compensation which they claim is too less compared to their loss.

They are not even aware of the amount the authorities have distributed as compensation.

40 members of this community voted in the last assembly and panchayat election. However the wait for facilities which were promised to them is still on.
