Taxi owners want Vijay to stop police harassment, give preference for locals

TCP Minister Vijai Sardessaipromised taxi drivers that he would ensure that police do not harass them in South Goa.



He also said that they would have a joint meeting with the Taxi drivers and stakeholders with chief minister Manohar Parikar.

Taxi owners submitted a memorandum to him on Saturday demanding preference for locals and same operators viz a viz large fleets and tour operators in the taxi business.

 Taxi owners led by the Benaulim NCP MLA Churchill Alemao met the TCP minister Vijai Sardessai about the ongoing meter fitting, speed governors, tour operators and large fleet operators.

The taxi operators and other Tourism stakeholders are to meet the chief minister Manohar Parrikar next week to sort out issues related to their trade.

On Saturday they submitted a memorandum to the TCP minister demanding that locals be given preference in business when there are large conferences like BRICS.

At the same time, they criticized large fleet operators accusing them of spoiling their peace and not allowing them to make a proper living.
