Portuguese era bridges in Hivrem on verge of collapsing

The state Government is building new bridges on major rivers for linking North Goa with South and major towns to the capital city for developing the tourism sector.

However the rural areas are always neglected by the authorities when it comes to developing new infrastructure. Same is the case with Hivrem in Sattari.

Hivrem, the tiny hamlet lays around 10 kms from Valpoi in Thane panchayat jurisdiction.

It is very well known among the Goans and other tourists for the seasonal waterfall which is a major attraction of this place in monsoons. But the two old bridges from Portuguese times are in a very bad condition.

The two bridges have not been maintained and are on verge of collapsing. Locals want the authorities to undertake the repair works as soon as possible since these two bridges are the only modes of connecting roads for villagers and any major damage to these bridges will cut the village off from mainstream.
