MPT serves eviction notices to 30 pre-liberation houses, claiming land ownership

Mormugao Port Trust has served eviction notices to 30 houses. They are told to vacate by September because the land belongs to the port authorities.
People says they have been living there even before MPT came into existence.
The houses are located on the side of the port at Jetty and Harbour. Chief Engineer of MPT HAS served them notices to vacate within 90 days, under the Public Premises Act 1971.
People have decided not to vacate. They claim that their houses were built even before the MPT started its operations.
