Kurdikars submerged their village for South Goa; have no water to drink

People from the entire South Goa are getting water from the Salaulim Dam.

But at the same time, people who sacrificed everything including houses and plantations for this dam have to suffer these days for water.

Watch the plight of Vaddem who are facing a huge problem of water shortage in this Goa 365 exclusive.

These people who are staying at Colony No. 1 Vaddem in Sanguem are the same ones whose earlier generations and families were rehabilitated from the village of Kurdi which went underwater during the construction of Salaulim dam.

These 650 families from the village of Kurdi were given plots in Vaddem and nearby areas. But today this is how these Kurdikars are suffering due to shortage of water.

Local residents have to completely rely on these taps at some distance from their colony.

They carry their utensils on the vehicles and fill and carry water to their places in this manner. Their wells too have dried due to scorching heat in these days.

Story of the Gadkar family and the Kurdikar family is not any different. Their taps are currently running dry with no flow of water at all.

The site of dam is hardly 3 kms from their place but this is their plight.
