Goa should be ‘highwayless,’ feel bar owners

Bar owners are happy that the government has denotified many highways during the recently ended assembly session.

However, this is not enough. They want all highways all over the state to be denotified too.

Goa has been hit by the Supreme Court order to not renew bar licenses within 500 mts of highways.

And the denotification of highways by the state government has been met with relief by bar owners in Ponda.

However, they are still not satisfied and want roads all over the state to be denotified.

Initially there were around 3000 bars and wine stores affected by the order.

This has come down 1000 after the latest decision and subsequent amendment to the Goa Highways (amendment) Bill 2017 was passed on Monday.
