Classroom benches turning black due to coal, complain Vasco students

After social activists, environmentalists and elders from Vasco speaking against the coal pollution, now student community has also raising their voice at the public hearing.



A student from St Joseph Institute told the authorities that their classroom benches have turned black.


A student of Saint Joseph Institute Vasco, Sherwin Correia, stated that he as well as other students find coal dust on their benches every day.


He further appealed to the officers present to create a clean and green environment to live.


Meanwhile the Mormugao Municipal Council has resolved to oppose all expansion plans by Mormugao Port Trust.


The issue was raised by Chairperson Deepak Naik who said that until all issues raised by Vasco citizens are replied and studied, MPT should not be allowed any further expansion.
