Central govt should remove casinos from Mandovi River after nationalisation

GPCC president Shantaram Naik has said after the nationalization of rivers, it is the duty of the union government to remove the casinos from Mandovi river.



He also alleged that  no social impact study was conducted before nationalizing 111 rivers in the country, including six in the state.

Shantaram was speaking to reporters after launching bye election campaign for the Panaji seat of Congress candidate Girish Chodankar  on Sunday.


Shantaram said no social impact study was conducted before the nationalization of 111 rivers nationwide.


He accused chief minister Manohar Parrikar of being behind  the nationalization of rivers.

 The GPCC president said the state government will have no powers over the Goan rivers after their nationalisation.
