CCTV cameras in Ponda turned to mere ‘showpieces’?

CCTV Cameras that were installed in the town of Ponda are not operational anymore.

Only 2 out of these total 22 cameras those were installed just last year are currently working.

The locals are blaming the Municipality for not maintaining them, while the Municipality has thrown the ball in the court of the agency which was supposed to carry out the maintenance of these cameras.

These 22 CCTV cameras were installed last year under the MPLAD Scheme by the Info tech Corporation of Goa in Ponda.

While the surveillance footage was looked after by the Ponda Traffic cell for traffic violations, the maintenance of these cameras and system was handed over to Nupoor Technologies PVT LTD in coordination with Ponda Municipality.

Despite several reminders by the Municipality, the agency has failed to carry out the maintenance.

These CCTV cameras have thus now been reduced to mere showpieces.
