Amidst the ‘blame-game’, PWD officials are caught on ‘back foot’

The agitated residents of Bicholim gheraoed the PWD officials at Bicholim on Friday.

The PWD authorities blame the labourers at the Podoshem treatment plant for irregular water supply.

However the ground reality at the plant is totally different, labourers claim that the machinery is faulty.

Residents of Muslimwada, Bandarwada, Vathadev and other parts of Bicholim are suffering from water shortage since past few months.

They are getting water for some limited hours during the day.

On Friday morning, locals marched to the office of Assistant Engineer of the PWD, where they were informed that the problem exists since the labourers are not doing their duties properly as they have not got their payment from last 3 months.

But the ground reality is different, our reporter visited the Podoshem Water Treatment plant.

The 30 MLD plant has around 49 daily wages labour workers.

They have really not been paid their salaries from last 3 months.

However, they are working day in and day out in such tedious conditions. This is the condition of their workplace. Ladders without steps, rusted pipelines and valves yet they are taking risks in service of people.
