After BRICS summit, street lights stop functioning

As is often the case in Goa, once a project is ready its maintenance is forgotten or ignored.

This is the case of street lights that were upgraded to light emitting diodes on National Highway 17 from Verna to Shantinagar for the BRICS Summit in Benaulim in October 2016.

Once the BRICS summit was over no one bothered to maintain the LED lights.

According to Vasco residents, the lights worked during the BRICS summit.

After that motorist were left to drive in darkness. They wonder if the streetlights are meant only for VIPS.

Project Director of National Highways S Dodamani said that the Electricity Department is going to install a junction box to fix the problem.
