After 7 days, Ponda police arrest one villager from Nirankal

Seven days after the incident of illegally demolishing 13 hut of Vanarmare tribals at Nirankal in Betoda village, Ponda police on Saturday arrested one person.



The Fonda police are sitting idle over the case of illegally demolishing huts of 80 Vanarmare tribals and making them homeless on last Sunday.

The police registered  a case against unknown persons even after Nirankal panch telling Goa 365 that the action of villagers was supported by their Sarpanch Poonam Samant.

The police have now arrested one Gopinath Gaonkar from Gavlal, Nirankal.

Meanwhile, Attorney of local Communidade Ravi Gaonkar told media that this land of Communidade is still in the possession of forest department.

Therefore they cannot take any action against the Vanarmare, who are living in this land.
