The Kumbharjuvem Gaundalim Bridge is still in dark even after one year of its official inauguration.

The pending works along this bridge are underway at snail’s pace. This bridge was actually meant for lessening the load of traffic over the Banastari Panaji road however with lack of street lights commuters still prefer to take the old route.

Your visuals have not blacked out. This is how the bridge looks in complete darkness.

This Bridge built by the GSIDC along with the adjoining approach roads was inaugurated by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on 24th April last year but the inauguration plaquehas gone from its sitesince it was hit by a vehicle in the dark few months back. One year gone and the bridges are still in darkness.

The pending work of installing crash barricades and the street lights on the approach roads had started long back but it is still not finished.

The bridge was kept closed for period of almost 3 months for maintenance purpose after which its initial design was also changed. It was re opened for public in the month of March.

Street light fixtures are just installed on the polls erected along the road. But these are not operational till date. The street light poles are not even erected on both the bridges.

GSIDC has undertaken the work of widening the narrow approach road towards Dhauji railway crossing just last week. One year gone, and the Cumbharjuve locals are still crying for a connecting road for direct access.

This bridge in a way has also become a hub for anti social elements due to darkness
