CCP backs down, decides to transfer Bainguinim land to Govt

Goa Forward Minister Vijai Sardesai played as the intermediary and held a meeting in this regard with chief minister Manohar Parrikar. The CCP is presently controlled by Babush Monseratte.
A meeting of CCP councillors on Wednesday decided to transfer the CCP land at bainguinim land to the government. However, there was a caveat.
The land can only be used for a garbage plant and not for anything else. Yesterday the CCP Mayor Surendra Furtado had told media that he had received legal opinion not to transfer the land to the government but maximum go for a MOU with the government and Solid Waste Management Corporation.
The Mayor said that at a meeting with the chief minister Manohar Parrikar, he had explained that the transfer was needed to arrange for finance.
The newly appointed chief officer Ajit Roy spoke to the media after the meeting on his first day at the CCP. He spoke on what his priorities will be.
