Quepem municipal Council members have threatened to bring people out on streets if the new Quepem health centre is not started within 30 days.

They alleged that the delay in starting operations from the completed hospital is because the local MLA belonged to the Congress.

The chairperson of the Council Rahul Pereira said that the building was complete and the government just needed to depute staff including doctors to the 30 bedded hospital.

It was almost 30 years since this issue was first raised, he said and charged that this was not started because Babu Kawlekar the local MLA belonged to the Congress.

He said that they would come out on the streets if the government did not get the hospital functioning within 30 days from Wednesday
