11 Oct 2017 07:02 PM

The High Court on Wednesday quashed and struck down the 10th August notification to transfer the Goa centric jurisdiction of the NGT western Zonal bench from Pune to New Delhi.

It also wanted the state government and the MOEF to take up in all seriousness the proposal to establish a circuit bench in Goa.

The court while disposing off all petitions said that this ruling did not apply to Daman Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

It said that after this ruling the Western region bench can now proceed with hearings in cases filed before it, a major setback to the BJP led government and its rationale about shifting the bench to Delhi.

Goa Foundation and various other petition had filed PILs in the High Court  against the order after the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests notification transferring the Pune bench of the National Green Tribunal to Delhi bench.

The Aam Aadmi Party has welcome the decision of the Bombay High Court  quashing the notification of the union environment ministry  transferring Goa’s environment cases to Delhi.
