Will Ola, Uber also affect Goa’s motorcycle Pilots?

The proposed introduction of OLA and Uber Cabs in Goa is not just turning out to be a headache only for the taxi owners.

It is also going to badly affect the traditional business of Motorcycle taxis fondly known as pilots. They have opposed the proposed move.

The business of traditional Goan pilots is already in losses as they hardly get any customers these days.

The main source of income now for the pilots is the known local and not the tourist, since Rent a bike service has minimized any scope of business from the tourists.

The pilots now fear that even this local will go away from them if the OLA or Uber cabs are introduced in the state.

President of the Goa Pilots body Suresh Thakur is also of an opinion that their fare charts should be revised by the Directorate of Transport. He says the pilots should be given some fuel subsidy too.

He also says Govt should encourage new individuals to enter in this traditional business by giving them permits which are currently stopped by the authorities.
