Food and Drugs Authority on Friday raided M/S Sundar Sweets, Duler and seized and destroyed more than 2 lakh rupees stock that was unhealthy and dangerous to consume.

The unit was also asked to stop production immediately.

The raiding party found that Farsan was being prepared near toilet area and peddas returned from the market were being used for making new peddas even though some of the stock had mould and fungus growing on it.

Officials also said that the unit was manufacturing and packing without putting the date and possibly selling very old stock to customers.

Another deficiency found was that the workers handling the food items were not wearing the proper attire and the preparation area was not clean at all.

Earlier the FDA team checked 60 busses at Mapusa bus stand for transportation of Mava.

This is part of the FDA’s ongoing drive during the Ganesh Chaturthi season.
