Mormugao Port Trust Chairman I Jeyakumar said that the doubling of railway tracks from Vasco to Hospet will benefit Goans more than MPT.

He said that after doubling of the tracks, the railways would increase the number of trains connecting Goa to cities like Hyderabad and Bangalore and there would also be an increase in the quantum of freight.

Jeyakumar said that by converting the single track to double, the South Western Railways are not only planning for an increase in cargo, but also to increase mail express trains connecting Goa to Tirupati, Bangalore, Hyderabad and even a passenger train services to Dudhsagar.

This is a famous tourists spot located on the Goa, Karnataka border. The project has already been sanctioned.
