Sec 144 imposed around Meat Complex during Bakri Eid

The South Goa Collector has imposed section 144 around Goa Meat Complex for almost five days to avoid tension during the Bakri Eid. It’s enforced from Thursday midnight.

Muslims brothers and sisters will celebrate Bakri Eid as a Qurbani Festival on 2nd of September.

On this occasion, bulls are brought from Karnataka from Mollem and Pollem borders to the Goa Meat Complex for slaughtering.

Officials of Food and Drugs Administration, as well as Veterinary services, are deployed at the check posts while high court also monitors the whole slaughtering process.

In spite of this, some NGOs had created tension last year by protesting against the legal slaughter.

In order to avoid this, the South Goa Collector has now imposed section 144 in a distance of one kilometer from the Meat Complex.
