Raia residents gherao Elect Dept EE, threaten to come on streets

Raia residents led by Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco and former Raia sarpanch Luis Quadros gheraoed the Executive Engineer of the Electricity Department Devadasana A alleging erratic power supply and excess bills.

They threatened to come on the streets in case this issue was not solved. 

Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco alleged that people of Curtorim were being harassed by the government because it was represented by an opposition MLA.

Devadasana said that long billing cycles were due to transition from the old system to the new one and would be sorted out soon. He also said that installation of all street lights in the area would be completed within a month’s time.
