Demolition work of the Vasco fire station building is expected to start in a fortnight. the fire station was declared unsafe around two years ago.

The PWD authorities have prepared a revised plan for its reconstruction with the cost expected to go up by 2 crore rupees  as compared to the earlier estimate of 7 crore rupees.

The  fire station is located at Mundvel. The construction tender has already been floated. The ground plus two-storey building was inaugurated in 1993.

Due to lack of maintenance, the building had developed several cracks with the iron rods from the concrete pillars and slab lying exposed. the building has been vacated.

Owing to precarious condition of the structure, around 40 staffers of the fire station have been shifted to the storeroom in the backyard of the building.
