NGO welcomes Gadkari comment of shifting coal hub to Maharashtra

Goa against Coal has welcomed Nitin Gadkari’s statement to shift Coal hub plans from Goa to Vijaydurg and Karwar.



 The organisation said that just like the central government had dropped satellite port project at Betul  they should do the same with the Coal Hub and Nationalization of  the rivers.

 The NGO said that the people had made it very clear that they don’t want any form of expansion of  Mormugao Port Trustat Vasco at the 8 day public hearing.


GAC said that Nitin Gadkari should also know that its own BJP MLA’s Carlos Almedia and Alina Saldanha had attended the public hearing and voiced concern against Coal dust pollution and expansion of Coal handling of the port.

 

 Member of GAC Olencio  Simoes Stated  future that almost 40 Panchayats of Goa has opposed this mega projects of making Goa Coal Hub and Nationalization of our 6rivers for coal transportation.


Stating that states like Delhi,UttarPradesh,Haryana air quality Index has hit server levels only due to factors like Vehicle emission, dust from construction, farm burning and firecrackers and if we compare Goa then vehicle emission is even more and  Goa has topped the list of Indian states with the maximum traffic density of 551 vehicles per 1,000 people as compared to Delhi ranked third with 424 vehicles per 1,000 people.
