Mauvin moots to change Panchayat Act to stop musical chairs

He wants to put an end to the rotational system currently followed by panchayat bodies.

Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho has promised full functional autonomy to the Panchayat bodies across Goa.

He invited suggestions from the Panchayat bodies to amend the Panchayati Raj Act. 

The occasion was oath taking ceremony of panchas of 9 panchayats from Mormugao and Salcete talukas under Mormugao BDO held at Chicalim Panchayat hall on Tuesday.

Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha, Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa, Panchayat Director Sandya Kamat and others were present.

Mauvin assured to increase discretionary powers of sarpanchas to spend up to 25,000 rupees immediately to tackle a flood-like situation in the village.
