Madgao municipality to dispose condemned vehicles

Apart from this, there are other more vehicles kept at the old market on land belonging to the civic body.

The vehicles get more and more corroded with every passing year.  

Former chairperson Savio Coutinho blamed the council for wasting public money on the vehicles.

Chairperson Babita Prabhudesai, however, said this is the legacy she has inherited from the earlier council. 

Former chairperson of Margao Municipal Council Savio Coutinho has stated that the more the delay in disposing of the old vehicles the lesser is the value they fetch.

He said many broken down garbage compactors are also lying on the municipal land.

He also said the civic body is neither making use of the free service facility of the new vehicles nor maintaining them well.     

When Goa 365 contacted chairperson for her reaction, she is all for their disposal even as scrap.

She is waiting for the code of conduct to get over before starting the process.

Meanwhile Babita has agreed to keep Cobblers’ bags in the municipal garden.

The cobblers had approached her with their request.
