HC intervenes, stays NGT bench tranfer

The High Court has stayed the government’s decision to shift Pune bench of the National Green Tribunal to Delhi.

While NGOs and opposition parties have condemned it, the Bombay high court at Goa has taken a sue motto cognizance and has stayed the decision taken by the ministry of environment and forest.

The government shifted the Goa jurisdiction of the NGT from Pune to Delhi.

This has drawn flak from NGO’s who said that this looked as if Goa was being treated like a foreign Colony by the government.

The High Court has kept the next hearing on this issue for the 5th of September.

The Congress too condemned this move of the government.
