A government building at Guddem in Siolim that formerly housed a primary school is in a dilapidated condition.

Locals say that if the building collapses it could damage a building and a temple that are close to it.

They want the government to demolish and reconstruct the building as soon as possible.

The building at Guddem housed a government primary school. It was constructed  in 1980.

This building also housed a library, a gym and a balwadi catering to the villagers.

Subsequently, over the years the school building was neglected by the authorities concerned and went into a state of disrepair.

For the past 12 years the building has remained unused. Marna panchayat has already taken a resolution that the building be demolished and built anew.

The resolution will be sent to the Education Department.

A local appealed to the government to reconstruct the building  and restart the school, balwadi,  library, and gym to bring the edifice to the state it was in earlier.
