Govt to attempt to revive natural springs

There were around 1,900 springs in Goa but at present only around 700 are still flowing.



This information was given by WRD Minister Vinod Palyekar.

He said his department will unearth the remaining springs and preserve them for posterity.

Rastroli Pond beautification in Verla-Canca panchayat area was inaugurated on Tuesday.

The pond was called Brahmanic talli in ancient times. The source of this pond is the spring.

This was neglected for a long time.

Now it has been revived. The inauguration was done by WRD Minister Vinod Palyekar in the presence of Verla Canca Sarpanch Milton Marques, panch members and residents of Canca.

The ancient spring was blocked due to neglect. The spring has been cleaned up and the area beautified at a cost of 38.50 Lakh rupees.

Vinod has instructed officials of his department to seek out the remaining forgotten springs and revive them.
