Feni Producers in Dilemma following SC order over liquor ban

As the excise department has geared up for acting strictly on the bars and liquor along the state and national highways, the Liquor shop and bar owners are not the only people who are going to be affected.



The traditional Cashew Fenny producers are also in a dilemma whether to produce the fenni and urrak or not.

 These traditional fenni producers from the Bicholim taluka are preparing fenni from last so many years by means of distillation in their traditional bhaatis.

However this year even though the Cashew season has already reached its peak, they are not willing to take the risk of producing fenni.

Another feni producer Umesh Sawant from Sarvan says he will most likely produce only 200 gallons of fenni in this season of 2 months against 400 to 450 gallons which he used to produce ever year.
