FDA seizes tobacco worth 30 lakh rupees

Officials of the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration seized tobacco worth 30 lakh rupees.



The driver of the truck in which the tobacco was being transported is detained by the FDA officials.

The tobacco was coming from Karnataka.

Senior Food Safety Officer of the  Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration Rajiv Korde informed media that they received a call from the Canacona police station stating that they have detained a truck carrying tobacco in bags.


The driver of the truck that carried the tobacco denied he had any knowledge about the contents of the bags.


He said the consignment had been sent from Bengaluru.
