Former chief minister Digambar Kamat fears arrest once again.

This time in the illegal mining scam.

Because his former mining secretary Rajiv Yaduvanshi has turned state witness.

And the SIT of Goa police has summoned Digambar on Tuesday. He applied for anticipatory bail, but the court refused to grant him interim relief.

And later on his house in Margao was searched by the SIT.  The hearing is on Monday afternoon.

The specific case here is condoning the delay in renewing the mining lease of Prafful Hede.

He is a mining leaseholder as well as the leader of Nationalist Congress Party.

Sources told Goa365 that Yaduvanshi recorded his statement before the magistrate that the then chief minister Digambar Kamat had a hand in his order to condone the delay in lease renewal.

Fearing arrest on Monday, Digambar has filed for anticipatory bail.

The Panaji sessions court has issued notice to the SIT, but has refused to grant him interim bail till his application is disposed of.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had announced in 2012 that those involved in illegalities would be put behind the bars.

But nothing happened for more than five years since the BJP came to power.

After Parrikar’s PAC report as the opposition leader, the M B Shah report also established the illegalities to the tune of 35,000 crore rupees.

The police are now going tough.

But Parrikar does not want to comment on it.
