Charters to arrive on Sat-Sun, Navy won’t close the airstrip

Charter flights will arrive also on Saturdays and Sundays. Goa government has managed to successfully convince Indian Navy to withdraw their notification to close the airstrip for on weekends for maintenance.



 Most of these chartered flights were hanging fire while severely affecting the tourism season.

  Local MLA and Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho along with Cortalim MLA Alina Saldhana on Thursday morning had a meeting with the naval authorities and other stakeholders.

After discussions on the notification and its implications on tourism scene, the Naval authorities agreed to withdraw the notification.

  The long pending issue of Taxi Union also resolved in an meeting of stakeholders on Thursday.
