23 Feb 2017 08:29 PM

Mayor of Panaji, Surendra Furtado wants the police to crack down on the beggars in the capital city of Goa

But he is going a step ahead and making a major allegation. He says a mafia gang is operating behind these beggars.

Furtado is indirectly blaming the police for not taking any action against this alleged mafia gang.

Because the police have not acted in spite of the City Corporation of Panaji sending series of letters to the police in this regard.

He has now sent one more formal letter to the police.

The Panaji police are assuring to book a case against the mafia, in case they found anybody operating like this.

The CCP has also sent a demand notice to recover almost 25 lakh rupees towards the parking fees.

The Straight Deal Services has collected the parking fees, but not passed it on to the CCP. The contract is expiring by end of February.
