Around 100 migrants live in thatched huts in Kavlem village.

They also carry out business such as carpentry and cement block manufacturing.

According to the village panchayat, not a single house has a house number.

Ponda BDO and Kavlem panchayat members and officials carried out a joint inspection of the houses on Wednesday.

There are around 60 houses apparently built by the locals and rented out to these migrants.

There are no proper toilet facilities.

The occupants go to the nearby jungle area to answer nature’s calls.

The panchayat has decided to demolish these hutments after following all procedures.
