Goa celebrated a moral victory after the Supreme Court verdict on Mhadei on Thursday.

However eminent activist Ramesh Gawas is doubtful whether Karnataka will keep its word over carrying out no further construction in Kalsa Bhandura canal project.

The apex court had disposed the case on Mhadei by acting on affidavit of Karnataka that the state will not go ahead with any more construction of the canal project.

However, Ramesh Gawas has questioned value of such affidavits in the Supreme Court.

Gawas also said daily monitoring of the Kalsa Bhandura project is a difficult task.

He is of an opinion that political will is lacking in Goan leaders irrespective of political parties on the issue of Goan Rivers. He says political intervention on this issue of Mhadei is must and no governments have shown intentions for the same.
